Online training "Breast cancer rehabilitation", May 26th, 2021.
On May 26, as part of the Erasmus + project "Innovative Rehabilitation Education - Introduction of New Master's Degree Programs in Ukraine" (REHAB) № 598938-EPP-1-2018-1-LV-EPPKA2-CBHE-JPREHAB, online training on the topic " Breast cancer rehabilitation." The training was organized by Satakunta University of Applied Sciences (Finland). The keynote speaker was Anne Kärki, Ph.D., principal lecturer in physiotherapy, researcher. The following issues were discussed during the training:
- Orientation into the treatment of breast cancer - what should physiotherapist know and why?
- Physiotherapy after breast cancer operation and during chemotherapy & radiation therapy
- Exercise therapy and other treatment modalities. Typical impairments, activity limitations, and participation restrictions among breast cancer rehabilitees.
- Lymphedema prevention and treatment guidelines.
Also, during the training were considered the guidance of breast cancer rehabilitees - what do we know about avoidance of hot bath, sauna, injection/blood test, flight, loading of the operated arm.
In total, about 60 participants from the partner institutions of the project took part in the training.
